Individual Special Needs Trusts

Family Network on Disabilities serves as trustee, co-trustee, or administrator of many individual special needs trusts other than our pooled trusts.

In administering the special needs trusts, we stress those principles vital to proper trust administration: Transparency, accountability, and service. We believe that beneficiaries, their families, and the professionals who serve them should have access to information about the trust around the clock, whenever it is convenient to them. Our annual audits by independent auditors provide an additional level of accountability and transparency. We recognize that dealing with financial matters is often extremely stressful for beneficiaries and their families. We strive to treat all of them with the courtesy and respect we would expect for ourselves.

Fees

We believe very strongly in making our fees as reasonable as possible. Our fees for serving as trustee/administrator of an individual special needs trust are calculated based on the balance of assets held by the trust. We charge a simple percentage, as follows, according to the indicated balances on an annual basis:

$0 - $1,000,000: 1%
$1,000,001 - $3,000,000: 0.75%
All amounts above $3,000,000: 0.50%

We do not charge a minimum fee, regardless of the balance of the assets in the trust. We also do not require a minimum amount to deposit to establish an account or a minimum amount to keep an account open and active.
