Paying Tribute to Loved Ones
News of Note...
Dr. Donna Sumlin was a Board member of FND for several years and a friend of ours for much longer. Donna was a woman of few words, but, when she spoke, it was always meaningful and people listened.
I was privileged to serve on task forces with Donna and to see and hear her operate in many different settings. She never wasted time and I never, ever, heard her complain about anything. She was a very classy lady. Tragically, we lost Donna suddenly in 2005.
This column marks the first of a regular series of tributes to friends and loved ones with disabilities - who are either still with us or who have passed on - that we will be featuring in this newsletter as well as online. If you would like to have your tribute to a friend or loved one published, please send it (electronic form, Word format, would be preferred, but we'll take fax and snail mail, too) to Tara Bremer (mailto:tara@fndfl.org) at FND's state office.
It doesn't have to be fancy. If you have a photograph, that would be great to include. We are asking for donations of $25 for each tribute. All funds will go to finance FND's Jan La Belle Scholarship Fund for persons with disabilities who pursue higher education.
