The 6th Annual Heart and Hope Conference is coming to Dunedin.

Don't forget that the 6th Annual Heart and Hope Statewide Family Conference is being held on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Dunedin Highland Middle School in

Pinellas County.

 

This is a free full day event designed to help bring individuals who are at risk, families who have children with disabilities, and the professionals who serve them awareness in regard to their options and rights that are available to them within the school system and beyond.

 

Free breakfast, lunch and childcare will be provided. One-on-one assistance will be available at our IEP clinic.

The Parents of the Panhandle Information Network is currently seeking 1 part-time/20 hours per week, , Parent Resource Specialist. This position will cover the following counties: Gadsden, Leon, Wakulla, Jefferson, Taylor, Madison, Lafayette, and Dixie.  

A Parent Resource Specialist offers training and assistance to parents, professionals, and self advocates on the educational system as it relates to IDEA. Interested candidates must have a firm understanding of IDEA, strong computer skills, the ability to work from home with full internet access, live within the area they will be serving, and have a strong desire to help families who have children with disabilities.

Are you a young adult with disabilities who has gone through the transition process while in school? 

Would like to help others in developing their self-advocacy skills and self-confidence for that process?   

If you answer yes, then we have the job for you!    

The Parents of the Panhandle Information Network Program (POPIN) is currently seeking a 20 hour per week Youth Mentor to provide training and assistance to other young adults with disabilities on self-determination and self-advocacy. This position involves public speaking and requires some light travel. Applicants must live within the region they serve, have basic computer knowledge, and have access to the internet. This region includes all of the counties within the Panhandle of Florida from Escambia to Alachua.

The Parent Education Network Program (PEN) and the Family Support, Training, Awareness, and Resources Program (Family STAR) are currently seeking a combined 30 hour per week Youth Mentor to provide training and assistance to other young adults with disabilities on self-determination and self-advocacy. The Jan La Belle Scholarship Program

Family Network on Disabilities is currently seeking a full time Training Coordinator for our Parent Training and Information Center.  Applicants must be a parent/guardian/or caregiver of a child with a disability, have a firm understanding of IDEA and 504, be actively involved within the disability community, and have a strong desire to make a difference in the lives of children with disabilities.  Knowledge of Powerpoint and good written/verbal communication skills are a must.  Public speaking experience is a plus!

The Back to the Future 80’s Themed Pub Crawl and Scavenger Hunt

Family Network on Disabilities (FND) is hosting a Scavenger Hunt and Pub Crawl in Downtown Dunedin. This event is intended to both raise funds for FND as well as get to know our neighbors. The Central Office of FND moved from Clearwater, FL to Dunedin, FL last fall and we have hosted several events to introduce ourselves to our new community. This one will take you "Back to the Future" as you travel back in time to the 1980's when FND was founded.

Whether you loved or hated the 80's, you'll love this event. Join us on Saturday, July 17, at The Boxcar in Downtown Dunedin (349 Main St). Registration begins at 6:00 pm, the Scavenger Hunt and Pub Crawl kicks off at 7:00pm and the Scavenger Hunt winner will be announced at 9:00pm back at The Boxcar. But don't leave then! Continue the Pub Crawl with five free drink tickets (one at each of our sponsor's establishments):
